How TrueCaller Works? Crowd Sourcing?

How did an app told you about the informations of the dialer of the unknown number. Most of the viewers had asked me that how does truecaller works. So in this blog, I will tell you about the working of one of the most foreknown and most used application nowadays, TrueCaller. I am Hamid, lets begin...

TrueCaller was developed by the Swedish company True Software Scandinavia AB, Truecaller finds contact details globally given name or telephone number, and has an integrated caller ID service to achieve call-blocking. Truecaller have collection of all the contacts (mobile phone book) of its users (People who use this app) from all around the world and the public phone directories.When a person download and starts using Truecaller, this app uploads all the contacts of that person to its  database. So when you search a number on Truecaller it shows the name someone saved in his/her phone-book
 
If you know about the technical working of the TrueCaller app, then you will get it too easy but as a normal person, one can get amazed that how can an app is displaying the informations about a person who is not in your contacts. It is quite amazing that today's technology has gone so far that a person can get the information about an unknown caller on his phone with the help of a basic application. TrueCaller is most helpful in recognizing fake and Spam calls. At the moment, TrueCaller does a magic which is known as Crowd Sourcing. Even Google uses Crowd Sourcing in its one of the famous application of live traffic.
Actually, TrueCaller does nothing but it is you who does everything for yourself. As a user installs and registers his phone on TrueCaller app, all the contacts in his phone get sync to the TrueCaller app servers. Now imagine there are how many users of TrueCaller in the world and all those users' contacts gets sync to the TrueCaller servers. Now if you get a call by an unknown number, the dialer of the call must be in contact of any of the users of TrueCaller in this world, and thus the amazing app searches in its own server and displays the information of the caller on your smart-phone.
But the information given by TrueCaller mustn't always be right as anyone can save a contact by whatever name he wants. Suppose my name is Hamid, and some of my contacts have saved my number by Bro, Roomie, Hamid Aligarh or maybe anything he wants. Now if I call someone who doesn't have my number in his contacts, he might get my name as Bro, Roomie or whatever the contacts are synced on TrueCaller servers. It may not be accurate but it gives a clue about the caller of the call.
Now if you think according to your privacy, there would be many users of TrueCaller who have your number saved in their contacts. Then what happened with your own privacy. This isn't a matter of concern as you can easily unlist your number from TrueCaller's official website, if you want that your name or your information didn't display on TrueCaller.
